Is Pierson safe for kids?

What age is Pierson appropriate for?

Through age 7: Skip this for young kids. The extreme workout and airport-marathon videos model pushing past pain and exhaustion, while the flight video includes adult alcohol. Ages 8–10: Preview the video first. Choose the inventions or tourist-attraction videos, and skip the flight video with recurring alcohol use and strenuous challenge videos. Ages 11–13: Watch with your kid. Talk about why cold plunges, long workouts, and endurance challenges are not personal rules to copy. Ages 14–17: Watch with your kid. Teens can handle the travel and review format, but the alcohol drinking, mild profanity, and risky exercise examples still merit a brief conversation.

Can your kid copy Pierson’s extreme challenges?

Your kid should not copy Pierson’s airport-marathon challenge: she continues exercising after reporting pain and exhaustion. In the airport marathon video, Pierson tries to cover 26.2 miles during a 12-hour layover. After walking most of the day, Pierson reports throbbing feet and exhaustion, then runs five miles on a treadmill while saying she feels like she is going to pass out. This is a challenge video, not a sensible fitness plan for your kid to copy.

“I Tried the World's Most EXTREME Morning Routines” also deserves a preview. Pierson attempts celebrity-inspired routines that include an ice-filled cold plunge, very early waking, running, cycling, and strength training. Pierson describes dehydration, pain, exhaustion, and feeling close to passing out, then concludes that the demanding routines led to being unable to stay awake by noon. Use this as a chance to tell your kid that online challenges do not replace advice from a trusted adult, coach, or health professional.

Does Pierson show alcohol or stronger language?

Yes. Pierson’s first-class flight video includes repeated drinking of champagne, wine, cognac and cocktails, including at the onboard bar. Pierson says drinking too much champagne led to needing the bathroom. Skip this adult travel video for younger kids, or discuss the drinking if you watch with an older kid.

Mild profanity appears in that flight review and in “I Rated Every Tourist Trap in Los Angeles,” including words such as “crap,” “damn,” and “hell.” The Los Angeles video otherwise focuses on visits to places such as the Hollywood sign, studio tour, Walk of Fame, Venice Beach, Santa Monica, and a driverless Waymo ride that Pierson finds frightening and exciting.

Which Pierson videos are lighter choices for your kid?

Pierson’s novelty-gadget review and Los Angeles tourist video are lighter choices than the extreme routines and flight review. In “I Reviewed the World's LAZIEST Inventions,” Pierson tests novelty gadgets such as a cat-shaped coffee blower, a self-stirring mug, a banana slicer, easy-pull shoelaces, and a motorized toothbrush. There is some bathroom humor and an uncomfortable attempt to use an eye-drop applicator, but the focus is on whether odd products work.

For a travel-focused pick, the Los Angeles video makes a checklist of tourist stops and includes a studio tour, snacks, landmarks, and a guided bus ride. Pierson also clearly says that a small sound-stage display is a replica, which can prompt a useful chat with your kid about sets and real locations.
